Student Ministry

Are you Reproducing?

John 3:6 says “Flesh gives birth to flesh, but spirit gives birth to spirit.

Many aspects of a successful youth ministry are so simple, so logical, that we simply choose to ignore them.  Instead, we search for more romantic ways of producing success in our eyes.  I know youth pastors who constantly search for the perfect drama, just the right song or the best sermon to transform their youth ministry.  But more important than the latest song or drama is the spirit of the Student Ministries pastor.

Before we worry about great attendance, our self image, powerful speaking, or evangelism, we need to to concern ourselves with our own character and integrity.  Reputation is what others say about you, but character is who you really are.  We cannot build a solid youth program on our reputation. We must have character!

John 3:6 teaches that the flesh gives birth to flesh and spirit gives birth to spirit.  As I see these pastors having children I realize in the same way, their spirit reproduces in those under their influence.  Before long, the group will demonstrate attitudes and character traits much like the Pastor.  Do we possess attitudes and character qualities we want to see in the lives of our students and leadership?
